Summer is about to start, the weather has turned warm and it’s time to explore the great outdoors. To celebrate, June is Camping Month! Our friends at Take it Outside and The Trail Shop are sharing some of the best ways for you to get camping using the best gear they have to offer.
This summer The Trail Shop is launching an equipment rental program. Upon the initial launch rentals will only be in their Halifax and Moncton locations but you will be able to rent everything you need for your camping getaway. If you find you really liked the gear and want to camp more, the products you rented may be available for purchase after your adventure, for a discounted rate. If you’re looking to get started camping but don’t know what you will actually use, this program is a great way to test things out and better understand your needs without committing to the upfront costs of buying a fully-geared-out pack.
Take it Outside and The Trail Shop have everything you will need to camp, from all the top-rated manufacturers. They have so many different kinds of gear, from the basics that you always need to the things you never thought you’d need but now won’t be able to camp without. The gear you need is here, durable, light and easy to pack.
The most important thing to have when camping is shelter and they have tents that sleep anywhere from 1 to 6 people from The North Face, Hotcore, Black Agnes, Sea to Summit and MSR, as well as sleepmats, sleeping bags, liners, pillows and lightweight foldable to keep you warm, dry, and comfortable.
Another key piece of camping equipment everyone needs to have in their pack is a first aid kit, and you can get a complete kit or just replace and restock what you need. Your first aid kit should include not just the basics like bandages and tweezers. You also need to include sunscreen, insect repellent, after-bite treatment and at least an extra 3 day supply of any prescription medications, in addition to the amount you need for your planned trip. The Trail Shop has kits fully-stocked with a range of first-aid gear to help keep you safe and healthy while enjoying the great outdoors.
Once you have somewhere to sleep and you have your safety taken care of, the next key part of camping is FOOD! Not only does The Trail Shop have all the cookware you could need, including stoves, pots and pans, they also have energy bars, snacks and dehydrated food packaged and ready to carry. Their dining choices include a variety of dishes and vegetarian and gluten-free options! You can enjoy breakfast, lunch and supper just like you would at home while you’re out on the trail.
