See why Land’s Best Friend Landscaping is MY new best friend as a property owner
Alicia Simms
Sometimes we buy homes with beautiful grounds and gardens, or plant trees, flowers and shrubs with the best of intentions, but the upkeep gets away from us. I’ve owned a home here in Colchester County for just over 7 years, and this is by far the most property I’ve owned with mature trees, shrubs and garden beds that came with my home. When you’re buying, these look like incredible features to have, but not being someone accustomed to having anything outdoors that needs to be maintained aside from a lawn, I quickly found things were growing out of my control. Maybe you’re like me – a busy professional who doesn’t have a lot of downtime, and when I do have it, the last thing I want to do with that time is weed my garden or prune a tree.
Each spring to summer, I experienced the same losing battle of excessive weeding, cutting larger trees and shrubs back, and just keeping things neat and tidy. Spoiler alert: after 7 years of minimal effort on my part, I’m waiving the white flag of defeat. I am not a gardener, and my property reflects that. I want a nice garden and my home to have curb appeal, but I’m just too busy to give it the time that requires. Plus, there’s the unspoken detail…i hate doing it.
Luckily for me and other’s like me, there are people who specialize in this, so I am calling in the experts! I’ve had the good fortune to work with Land’s Best through Truro Buzz a few times over the years, so they were my first call for professional help! Maintenance man extraordinaire, Casey, came out and assessed what needed to be done, talked to me about what I’d like to see, and Jamie quickly got me a quote on the job. Then we scheduled a time for the work to be done!
Here’s a list of what I had done:
• Low hanging branches on mature trees trimmed to make mowing easier (no more limbo mowing!)
• Garden beds weeded
• Dead plants removed
• Healthy plants pruned
• Shrubs pruned
• Removal of larger shrubs that were becoming trees too close to the house
• Trees along pathways pruned for better clearance and a nicer appearance.
• New shrubs planted in areas.
Once the job was done, Casey gave me a run down, and told me what I could do when the temperatures get colder and the remaining perennials die so the gardens are ready for spring! I already can’t wait to get Land’s Best back in the spring for seasonal clean up and to help me finish filling in the spaces left from clearing out the dead stuff.
