As World Theatre Day approaches on March 27th, we at Truro Buzz are thrilled to shine a spotlight on the vibrant theatre scene in our community and neighbouring areas. Theatre is not just about entertainment; it’s a celebration of art, culture, and the human experience. Join us as we explore three remarkable venues dedicated to enriching our lives through the magic of live performance.
Marigold Cultural Centre
For years, Truro was missing a place where the arts could flourish and the community could come together to celebrate creativity. That dream became a reality with the transformation of the former Centennial Theatre into the Marigold Cultural Centre, nestled in the heart of Truro.
The journey to establish the Marigold was a testament to the power of community collaboration and vision. Through a ground-breaking Community Economic Development Investment Funds cooperative venture, funds were raised not only to acquire the facility but also to renovate it into a state-of-the-art venue that would meet the town’s long-awaited artistic and cultural needs.
Today, the Marigold stands as a beacon of artistic excellence, with a 208-seat theatre that serves as the centrepiece of its offerings. But the Marigold is more than just a theatre; it’s a dynamic cultural hub that caters to a wide range of artistic pursuits. From the MMFI Art Gallery to the Colchester County Sports Hall of Fame, from workshop spaces for arts education programs to a bustling concession area and offices, the Marigold is a multifaceted space that caters to the diverse needs and interests of its patrons.
What truly sets the Marigold apart is its unwavering commitment to serving the community. Its programming is as diverse as it is dynamic, offering a rich variety of musical performances, theatrical productions, live comedy shows, and captivating dance performances.
Looking forward, the Marigold offers lots of amazing events:
