Hub House Street Sweep and Bottle Drive

Hub House, owned and operated by the Truro Homeless Outreach Society is located at 862 Prince Street in downtown Truro. As Colchester’s only emergency homeless shelter, we serve many individuals struggling with the disparities of homelessness, poverty, and addiction. We could not possibly do this without the generosity and compassion from our community members.
That is why our organization has planned an event that is a community directed cleanup, including live entertainment, free BBQ, volunteer opportunities and more.
The event is hosted by the Truro Homeless Outreach Society, with volunteer assistance from CEC’s Leadership 12 class. The Truro Program Centre and ElevateHer will also be present, offering information on services and programs.
The event will be taking place throughout the downtown area as the cleaning occurs and will be centred out of Civic Square on Prince Street (pending their final approval of our Covid Plan).
The goal of this event is to minimize litter and garbage while creating opportunity for interaction and education of Hub House and partners’ services. This event is also an opportunity reciprocate the compassion and generosity we receive consistently from our community.
We will have areas at the Civic Square located at 740 Prince Street where community members can drop off their recyclable cans and bottles, properly sorted and counted before hand would be preferable. (For those unsure of the current sorting requirements please see the subway depot in bible hill Facebook page.)
Keeping in mind that proper Covid measures must be taken, it is strongly encouraged that all those attending wear masks, and maintain proper distancing when mingling around the Civic Square.
The event will be taking place Thursday, September 24th from 12pm until 6pm.
